RTC 0–32 mm
RTC 0–32 mm — Recycled Type C aggregate in the 0–32 mm grain window — is the cost-effective, environmentally responsible sub-base material that has become standard in Brandenburg construction practice. Produced by crushing and screening clean concrete demolition material together with sorted brick and masonry rubble, this aggregate delivers compacted bearing capacity comparable to virgin natural stone gravel at a significantly lower price point. It complies with the German RC-Schotter classification and TL Gestein-StB for road and earthwork applications.
Features and benefits
The continuous 0–32 mm grading gives strong compaction and load-bearing behavior — proctor densities of 90–95% are routine with proper layer thickness and compaction. The angular crushed grain shape locks mechanically under traffic, and the material is frost-resistant in the relevant German climate zone. As a recycled product it dramatically reduces the carbon footprint of your sub-base layer and supports the circular construction economy.
Areas of application
Use RTC 0–32 mm as the structural sub-base under private driveways, parking areas, garden paths, terrace foundations, courtyards, and farm tracks. It is the right material for backfilling foundation excavations and building up uneven plots before topsoil placement. RTC also performs reliably as a temporary access road during construction phases and as a base layer for prefab garages, carports, and shed slabs where loads are moderate.
Expert tip on processing
Always compact RTC in 15 cm lifts with a vibration plate or small roller, lightly moistened to activate the fines — dry RTC simply will not lock. For visible top surfaces, finish with a 3–5 cm layer of crushed sand 0–2 mm or natural stone gravel 0–32 mm for a clean look. RTC is the smart choice for buried, load-bearing layers where performance matters more than appearance.
