Natural Stone Gravel 0–32 mm
Natural stone gravel 0–32 mm is the standard load-bearing sub-base material for everything that has to support real weight in the Berlin–Brandenburg region — from private driveways to municipal road construction. The continuous 0–32 mm grading is the engineering principle behind it: every grain size from fine sand up to 32 mm is represented, so the smaller particles fill the voids between the larger ones and the material locks tight under compaction. The result is a frost-proof, virtually settlement-free foundation.
Features and benefits
The continuous grading gives exceptional compaction behavior — proctor density values comfortably exceed 95% when laid in 20–25 cm lifts and compacted with a roller or plate compactor. The angular crushed grain shape locks mechanically rather than rolling under load, and the material is frost-resistant, fully compliant with TL Gestein-StB and EN 13242. Bearing capacity (Ev2 modulus) on a properly built layer regularly exceeds 100 MN/m².
Areas of application
Use this 0–32 mm natural stone gravel as the structural sub-base under driveways, parking areas, courtyards, garden paths, terrace foundations, and shed slabs. In civil engineering it is the standard frost-protection layer beneath asphalt and concrete road construction. It is also the right material for backfilling foundation excavations, building up uneven plots, and creating stable load-bearing pads for prefab garages or carports.
Expert tip on processing
Always lay this material in two 15 cm lifts rather than one 30 cm layer — single thick lifts never compact properly all the way through. Wet the material lightly before each compaction pass; the fines need moisture to bind. Build up to the planned grade, then top with paving grit or your finished surface.
