Granite Chippings 16–32 mm
Granite chippings 16–32 mm are the larger, heavier sibling of the standard Granitsplitt — the same exceptionally hard natural granite, screened to a coarser grain window for higher load tolerance and stronger visual mass. This is the right Granitsplitt fraction when you need a driveway-grade decorative surface, a structured gabion fill, or a coarse drainage layer that handles serious water volumes. Granite’s hardness and color stability make it a lifetime material.
Features and benefits
Granite chippings 16–32 mm offer outstanding compressive strength and abrasion resistance, fully frost and de-icing salt resistant, and dimensionally stable under heavy load. The 16–32 mm grain window creates high void volume between grains for excellent water permeability and drainage behavior. UV-stable color holds its appearance through decades of outdoor exposure. Screened to remove fines for clean, professional placement.
Areas of application
Use granite chippings 16–32 mm as a top layer for residential driveways, as the structural fill in gabion baskets and retaining wall facings, and as a coarse drainage layer in soakaways, French drains, and behind retaining walls. The material is also an excellent decorative accent in modernist garden designs where larger-scale gravel reads as architectural rather than purely horticultural.
Expert tip on processing
Build driveways with this material on a compacted base of natural stone gravel 0–32 mm at 20 cm depth, then top with 6–8 cm of granite chippings 16–32 mm. The result is a driveway that drains immediately, never gets muddy, and looks designed rather than utilitarian. For gabion baskets, place the cleanest, best-shaped chippings against the wire mesh for the best visible face.
